Ceramic Center

I woke up this morning thinking about all the projects I seem to have going on right now.

First, I have a bracelet idea I’m working on using this ceramic component and red hemp. (Yes, they would go with the necklace I made this weekend.) I’m trying to figure out a way to use the hemp to macrame the strap, but I’m not sure if I’m going try to attach the hemp to either side of the component or make the strap first and then stitch the component onto the finished strap. The loops, as is, are too small for much hemp, so that’s my quandary right now.

I have also been doing some eye pin experimentation. Here are a few so far. I think the coiled ones turned out okay. The other in the center, I’m not sure about. Maybe, it sort of reminds me of a vine. I have been revamping my wire findings area on my About.com site. I tend to link to these tutorials a lot since I use them so much in my projects and thought it was a good time to give the whole place a little sprucing up. I thought these eye pins might be a new addition. Of course, then I’ll need to come up with projects to use them in as well, maybe earrings?

Eye Pins

After my cool ice tray find at Target, I have the itch to try some resin, finally, so I’ve pulled out The Art of Resin Jewelry: Layering, Casting, and Mixed Media Techniques for Creating Vintage to Contemporary Designs by Sherri Haab. I’m thinking of trying the star-shaped tray first and maybe putting either some coloring in the resin or putting some red, white, and blue glitter into clear resin and makeing star charms for the 4th of July.

Then there’s a book I need to read and write a review of, and it’s an actual book with lots of text and no projects for a change; luckily, I’ve been in the reading mood lately (as you can tell from my updated page at GoodReads) and I have actually had a little time to read as well. I’m looking forward to this book in particular:

Finally, I also pulled out an old crochet afghan project I’ve been working on forever. Right now, it is large enough now to be a blanket, but I keep thinking I need to make it larger, larger, larger! I may manage to finish it this summer.

Welcome to the Crafty Princess Diaries, my weblog and site where I get to blab about my passion for crafts, primarily jewelry making, and my crafting career. My name is Tammy Powley, and I decided to call my blog the Crafty Princess Diaries because of this very dorky picture I have of myself and because my husband often refers to me as “the princess and the pea,” which is just another way to say that I tend to be particular sometimes. Along with this weblog, I have a number of jewelry making books published.

  1. Hi Tammy… I popped over here from the Yahoo MC Group. I’ve enjoyed reading your blog and just got your MC book in the mail this past week. I was active on the About.com group many years ago but I followed the link above to your tuts on wire findings. I’m totally AMAZED with the amount of info you’re sharing! Keep up the fabulous work! 2. Thank you, Emie. I’m glad you found my little blog over here. I thought I’d stretch my wings and have something a little of my own while still doing the About.com site. Plus, this way I can yap about my books 😉 I hope you enjoy the new MC book.
